The 2018 FA Community Shield will be the 96th FA Community Shield, an annual football match played between the title holders of the Premier League and FA Cup. It will be held at Wembley Stadium on 5 August 2018. The match will be played between Manchester City, champions of the 2017–18 Premier League and the 2017–18 FA Cup winners, Chelsea. It will kick off at 3pm and will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

Background[]

This will be Maurizio Sarri's first competitive match in charge of Chelsea and on the flip side it will be Pep Guardiola's second cup final as the manager of City after they won the 2018 EFL Cup Final by beating Arsenal (then managed by Arsène Wenger) 3–0 also at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea are looking to win the FA Community Shield for the first time since 2009 when they beat Manchester United 4–1 on penalties. They have failed to win any of their last four appearances in the competition. However, Manchester City have won their last two matches at Wembley, both in 2017–18 – beating Tottenham Hotspur 3–1 in April and Arsenal 3–0 in the EFL Cup Final in February, they haven't won three consecutive matches at Wembley since March 1970.
