Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier League club Manchester United, which he captains, and the Portugal national team.
Born in Maia, Metropolitan Area of Porto, Fernandes started his career at Italian Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A. In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga.He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. On 29 January 2020, Fernandes joined English club Manchester United for a fee reportedly worth up to £68 million. In July 2023, he was named as club captain.
A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as UEFA Euro 2020 and 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals, winning the latter on home's soil, and was named to the Team of the Tournament.
